Avera Tyler, Proud Partner of Community Blood Bank

Tyler, MN- Avera Tyler celebrates their 20th year partnership with Community Blood Bank to provide blood to the community’s patients in need. Community Blood Bank is a joint cooperative venture of Sanford and Avera Health. The Community Blood Bank currently serves 34 hospitals in eastern southwestern Minnesota, South Dakota and northwestern Iowa. In addition to being the only blood provider to Avera Tyler, the Community Blood Bank is the sole blood provider for Avera McKennan Hospital, Sanford Medical Center, Avera Heart Hospital and the V.A. Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Avera Tyler will host a community blood drive on Thursday, October 26 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. With additional blood drives scheduled in 2018 for May 22, August 28 and October 23, 2018. Appointments for donations can be made by calling the Avera Tyler Lab @ 507-247-2213 between 8 AM and 4:30 PM M-F. Didn’t have time to make an appointment? Walk in donors are always welcome! The donation experience typically lasts 20-30 minutes. Donors will continue to receive recognition for their blood donation history through the Community Blood Bank. Blood donated will come back to serve the patients of the Tyler region.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org) weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.
