Joining Forces to Save Lives Throughout Labor Day 2017

Sioux Falls, SD- KSFY TV, Avera McKennan Fitness Center, D.Q (Minnesota Ave location) and Community Blood Bank will host the 3rd annual “All American” community blood drive on Friday, September 1 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Avera McKennan Fitness Center (3400 Southeastern Dr.).

“Every year the blood supply is compromised during one of the busiest traveled holiday weekends, Labor Day,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.  “This community blood drive event helps bring awareness to as to the need for blood in our community, as well as provides a boost in supplies in order for us to be able to treat trauma, surgery and cancer patients throughout the holiday weekend.  We encourage residents to please consider donating blood when we are at the Avera McKennan Fitness Center on September 1.  Your donating will impact patients’ lives throughout the Sioux Falls area.”

Donors donating blood on Friday, September 1st will receive a special commemorative ALL AMERICAN BLOOD DONOR t-shirt, a three day pass for the Avera McKennan Fitness Center and a “pint for a pint” D.Q. certificate (compliments of the Minnesota Ave. D.Q.) and enter for a chance to win great prizes.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at, weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that donors eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.
