Parker, SD- Jones Food Center, Parker SD and the South Dakota Pork Producers Council are teaming up to provide blood to our community by hosting a community blood drive on Wednesday, July 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All those donating will receive an All American blood donor t-shirt and a free meal compliments of the South Dakota Pork Producers Council.
Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank, states, “The local blood supply has seen a drastic decrease in collections and limits us on the amount of blood that is available for accidents, traumas and many other situations where blood would be needed. It is safe to donate blood during these times, as we are following strict guidelines provided by the FDA, CDC and the Association of Blood Banks. It is extremely important to continue to keep blood supplies at strong levels for the community. With so many businesses either closing temporarily or sending staff to work from home, it has been difficult to find enough organizations able to host a blood drive event. We request the community’s support at this blood drive, as we move into the summer months, and encourage residents to give blood that will directly save lives in our community.”
