KSFY / Avera McKennan Fitness Center All American Blood Drive

Sioux Falls, SD- KSFY TV, Avera McKennan Fitness Center, D.Q (Minnesota Ave location), Taco John’s and Community Blood Bank will host the 5th annual “All American” community blood drive on Friday, August 30th from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Avera McKennan Fitness Center (3400 Southeastern Dr., Sioux Falls, SD)

“The Labor Day weekend is one of our top 3 holidays where usage is extremely high,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.  “This blood drive event helps bring awareness to the community about the need for blood as we approach the last summer holiday.  The hope is to bring about an increase in local blood supplies in order for us to be able to treat trauma, surgery and cancer patients throughout the holiday weekend and avoid a shortage in our community.  We encourage residents to please consider donating blood when we are at the Avera McKennan Fitness Center on August 30.  Your donation will impact patients’ lives throughout the Sioux Falls area.”

Donors donating blood on Friday, August 30 will receive a special commemorative ALL AMERICAN BLOOD DONOR t-shirt, a three day pass for the Avera McKennan Fitness Center, a “pint for a pint” D.Q. certificate (compliments of the Minnesota Ave. D.Q.) and a certificate for a crunchy beef taco from Taco John’s.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health. Please bring an ID with you.  It is recommended that donors eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.

Community Blood Bank is a nonprofit cooperative of Sanford Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital.  Community Blood Bank is not affiliated with other blood bank organizations and takes pride in being self-sufficient, thanks to the generosity of our local blood donors.
