Pipestone Heroes Behind the Badges to Honor Local Heroes and Boost Blood Supply

Pipestone, MN- Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and Fire Department will compete to see who can recruit the most blood donors for the community’s blood supply in the “Heroes Behind the Badges” community blood drive. All who donate will receive a free lunch and a commemorative All American Blood Donor t-shirt.

The friendly competition between the departments will support the summer blood supply for PCMC. The blood drive will be held on Wednesday, August 16 from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm at Pipestone County Medical Center (with registration located inside the hospital lobby area). The public is encouraged to come in, donate blood and designate their donation to the department of their choice. The department credited with the most blood donations will receive a trophy and bragging rights for a year.

“The summer has provided many challenges to keep up with blood demands. It is extremely important that this blood drive is successful to ensure an adequate blood supply through the completion of summer,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank.  “With Labor Day weekend fast approaching and many people active with summer travel, the need for blood continues to be very strong.  This blood drive is a way to provide a thank you to your local heroes and help ensure the community has the blood it needs to treat local patients in need.”

Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs. or more and be in good general health the day of the blood drive.  Community Blood Bank is proud to be the sole provider of blood to PCMC for over 12 years.  For more information or to make an appointment please call 825-6166.  Walk-ins are welcome.

Community Blood Bank is not affiliated with other blood bank organizations and takes pride in being a self-sufficient organization, thanks to the generosity of our local blood donors.
