Sioux Falls, SD – Raven Industries Inc. celebrate their 1000th donation of blood since the Community Blood Bank bloodmobile began visiting the organization in 1993. The blood drive, which takes place in July, marks the 46 blood drive event hosted with Community Blood Bank. The base staff members have donated over 125 gallons of blood for use for patients in the Sioux Falls community.
Raven Industries Inc. sponsor’s bloods drives throughout the year in partnership with the Community Blood Bank. “With organizational support that is provided by businesses like Raven Industries Inc. insures an adequate blood supply for our community throughout the year and directly impacts our community patients,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Raven Industries for nearly 24 years. Because of the dedication of blood donors donating blood at Raven Industries, blood is readily available for traumas, surgeries and the treatment of cancer.”
Individuals can safely donate blood every 56 days. Eligible donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a sign consent form found at cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating.
Community Blood Bank is a nonprofit cooperative of Sanford Medical Center and Aver McKenna Hospital established in 1976. Community Blood Bank is a self-sufficient organization because of the loyalty of local blood donors and is not affiliated with any other blood bank entity.
