Sioux Falls Storm to Host 2nd Annual “Champions for Life” Community Blood Drive

The Sioux Falls Storm, GreatLife and Moe’s Southwest Grill will host the 2nd annual “Champions for Life” community blood drive on Tuesday, May 9th from 6:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M. at GreatLife Performance and Fitness Center on 5901 S. Southeastern Ave. and 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Moe’s Southwest Grill on 3406 S. Western Ave.

Every patron who signs up at either event location will receive four (4) tickets to either the Saturday, May 20 or Saturday, May 27 Sioux Falls Storm home game and a blood donor t-shirt.  Those donating at Moe’s Southwest Grill will also receive a FREE plate of chips, salsa, small soda and a coupon for a FREE Queso.

“As our community continues to grow, so does the need for blood donations.  It has become increasingly more difficult to sure up the blood supply for the local area,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “People coming into donate at a community blood drive, like this one will directly impact the lives at patients in our local hospitals.  It is very important to help keep the local blood supply at adequate levels so we can respond to emergencies.”

Donors must be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation.  Please bring an ID with you.  An individual can donate blood safely every 56 days.  Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood to Avera McKennan Hospital, Avera Heart Hospital, the V.A. Medical Center, Sioux Falls Surgical Hospital, Sanford Children’s and Sanford Health. Click Here for more information.

Community Blood Bank is not affiliated with other blood bank organizations and takes pride in being a self-sufficient organization, thanks to the generosity of our local blood donors.
