Community Blood Bank and Westbrook Walnut Grove High School will host a community blood drive on Monday, March 6 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Westbrook Walnut Grove High School. This blood drive will benefit the local blood supply.
Blood is needed daily for use in surgeries, cancer treatment, traumas and burn treatment. Community Blood Bank uses 550 units per week to meet the needs of local hospitals including Sanford Tracy, Sanford Worthington, Murray County Medical Center and many others throughout the area. Donating blood only requires 30- 35 minutes of your time.
“The strong cold and flu season has placed a strain on the collection of blood,” states Rita Nelson, Director of Donor Recruitment, Community Blood Bank. “In order to meet the needs of our patients in the hospitals we serve, we encourage area residents around the Westbrook area to give the gift of life at this blood drive to bring supplies up to adequate levels.”
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that you eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood. It only takes 30 to 35 minutes to donate with Community Blood Bank. For more information or to schedule an appointment call Sanford Westbook at 274-1117. Walk-ins are always welcome.
