“The four day weekend has the potential to deplete of community’s blood supply. The Sioux Falls Stampede provides a significant opportunity for community members to donate blood and solidify our supply as we head into Thanksgiving weekend,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “The partnership between the Sioux Falls Stampede, Culver’s, KTWB, and blood donors allow our community’s hospitals to address serious medical issues during a four days holiday. Securing a stable, safe blood supply is essential to meet our patients’ needs. Within 30 minutes of your time you will provide hope to 3 patients within the community. Giving blood is one of those special things that can be done every 56 days and really impact lives for a life-time. Join us to give the one gift that only can be found by volunteers rolling up their sleeves and donating blood.”
Donors must be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an ID with you. An individual can donate blood safely every 56 days. Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood to Avera McKennan Hospital, Avera Heart Hospital, the V.A. Medical Center, Sioux Falls Surgical Hospital, Sanford Children’s and Sanford Health.
