Sioux Falls, SD – Sioux Falls Family Vision and Midwest ENT & Allergy (2325 W. 57th St, Sioux Falls) will host the annual “Eyes & Ears community blood drive” on Friday, August 23 between 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with donor registration located at both Sioux Falls Family Vision and Midwest ENT & Allergy. Donors can log onto www.cbblifeblood.org and select “events”, August 23, and Sioux Falls Family Vision / Midwest ENT & Allergy to schedule an appointment or call 605-331-3222. All who donating will receive an All American blood donor t-shirt, $10 D.Q. gift card, and (2) movie tickets as thank you gifts.
“We are reaching a point where we cannot keep up with the demand for blood. We have seen an 18% decrease in donations over the last two weeks, making very difficult to keep up with the demand for blood, “ said Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Local volunteers are the only way we will improve the overall blood supply for local patients. This special blood drive will help us secure blood for the rest of the summer and save the lives of patients in our community. With over 20% of our community’s blood supply going to help treat cancer patients, our demand continues to rise as the population grows. The Sioux Falls community has continued to come out to improve the outlook for the local blood supply and it is our hope we can have a very successful turn out this time. Please plan on donating blood on August 23rd at this community blood drive.”
Donor must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org) weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health. Donors exhibiting cold or flu symptoms are unable to donate. A valid identification is required at the time of registration. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood (avoid caffeine until after your donation).
