Blood Donors Called Upon During National Blood Donor Month – Join in to Save Lives

Community Blood Bank Partners with Sioux Falls Stampede and Culver’s to Celebrate National Blood Donor Month

  • Special thank you gift offered to all blood donors throughout January

SIOUX FALLS, SD – In recognition of National Blood Donor Month this January, Community Blood Bank is joining forces with the Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club and Culver’s to encourage community members to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life.

“January is a critical time for blood donations,” said Ken Versteeg, Executive Director of Community Blood Bank. “The winter months often see a decline in donations due to weather conditions and seasonal illness, yet the need for blood remains constant. We’re grateful to partner with the Stampede and Culver’s to show our appreciation and encourage both first-time and repeat donors to help save lives in our community.”

Blood donations are essential for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, trauma care, and those with chronic illnesses. A single donation can save up to three lives, and there is no substitute for human blood—making every donor invaluable to the health of the community.

Whether you’re a first-time donor or have given multiple times, your contribution makes a meaningful difference. The donation process typically takes less than an hour, and donors can give blood every 56 days.

“The Sioux Falls Stampede is proud to support Community Blood Bank and this vital cause,” said Jim Olander, C.E.O. of the Sioux Falls Stampede. “We look forward to welcoming donors to our games and thanking them for their generosity.”
