Madison Regional Health System and Community Blood Bank will join forces to save lives at a community blood drive scheduled for Monday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 10 from 7:00 am to 10:30 am and 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm (both days) at Madison Regional Health System. The blood donated at this blood drive will stay local and help the local blood supply. We invite individuals that have donated multiple times as well as those that are donating for the first time. A person can donate blood every 56 days. ALL THOSE WHO DONATE WILL RECEIVE A $15 Dairy Queen gift card as a thank you gift.
“This year began with heavier than normal blood usage and coupled with a strong cold and flu season placing the blood supply in “critical” needs status,” states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Many people have struggled with the flu or cold this season, preventing them from being able to give blood. We encourage those that are feeling well and healthy to help support the blood supply during a difficult time to keep supplies at healthy levels. We are in great need of all blood types.”
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an ID with you. It is recommended that you eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood. It only takes 30 to 35 minutes to donate with Community Blood Bank.
Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood and blood products to 34 local area hospitals, including Madison Regional Health System. For more information call or to schedule an appointment call 605-256-6551. Walk-ins are always welcome.
