“The Sioux Falls community continues to grow at a significant pass increasing the call for medical procedures, surgeries, and emergency care. An increase in the demand for blood continues to be observed and is ever more important to have residents consider donating blood throughout the year, especially with the change of seasons,” said Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Our goal is to fill every appointment opportunity we have for October 9, with nearly 130 donaiton opportunities to donate blood, we could save up to 390 lives in just one day. Local volunteers are the only way we will improve the overall blood supply for local patients. Community Blood Bank is a joint cooperative of Sanford USD Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital and the only blood provider for the region since 1976. We are grateful for the Sioux Falls community and support provided to local patients through blood donations on the bloodmobiles and in our donor room.”
