Community Blood Drive Scheduled to Provide Impact to Local Patients  

Donors can schedule their donation for Wednesday, August 30 between 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by clicking HERE now.

Hamlin / Hayti / Bryant, SD – A community blood drive will be held Wednesday, August 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bryant Community Center (115 East Main St., Bryant, SD).   Community Blood Bank, a South Dakota based blood bank, will host their first blood drive in the community. Community Blood Bank provides all of the blood supply to local area hospitals including Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, Sanford Deuel Clear Lake, Brookings Healthcare System, Sioux Falls, SD, Sanford Aberdeen, and 32 other local hospitals.  

The bloodmobile will be at the Bryant Community Center collecting blood for the local blood supply. The donation experience typically lasts 30-35 minutes. Donors will continue to receive recognition for their blood donor history through the Community Blood Bank. Blood donated will come back to serve the patients of the local communities including Hayti, Hamlin, Bryant, Clear Lake, Castlewood, and Watertown. 

Community Blood Bank is a joint cooperative venture of Sanford Medical Center and Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  The Community Blood Bank currently serves 36 hospitals in eastern South Dakota, northwestern Iowa, and southwestern Minnesota. In addition to local area hospitals, the Community Blood Bank is the sole blood provider for Avera McKennan Hospital, Sanford Medical Center, Avera Heart Hospital and the V.A. Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.   The Community Blood Bank provides blood and blood products to the armed forces and serves communities across our country in the midst of disaster when needed. 

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org) weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health.  A valid identification is required at the time of registration.  It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating blood.  To schedule a donation or answer a questions call Mandy Grantham at 605-954-8891 or calling Community Blood Bank directly at 605-331-3222.
